FAQs

Below are some of the most common questions people ask about our paramedical treatments

How long does this ink stay in the body?

Paramedical tattoos using permanent inks are designed to be in the clients skin forever, just like a body art tattoo. If the pigments are diluted to give a softer camouflage, are less likely to last for long periods of time. Touch ups would then be required.
Variables like the clients skin chemistry (everyone is different), their lifestyle, types of body lotions, exfoliation regularly etc, may influence the length of time between touchups.

How do paramedical camouflage tattoos react with the sun?

It is recommended to always wear the strongest sunscreen (SPF 50) you can, when outside. This helps protects your skin, but also your tattoo. Its important to remember that as your skin tans, your camouflage tattoo will not change. But scars don't tan anyway, so your skin will still be more blended than prior to your camouflage.
Clients should always come in with their 'normal' untanned skin for the best skin match.

Do I need numbing for my treatment?

Most often clients experience a paramedical stretchmark or scar treatment as a 3 or 4 out of 10. (10 being very painful). If we are treating a scar on a very sensitive area like the lips, then we may discuss numbing at the consultation.

How long does the treatment take?

Most treatments are usually completed within an hour. This ofcourse, depends on the size of the area we are treating, or we are doing multiple body areas in the same session. At the consultation we will be able to be more exact about timing. At Rejuv we don't rush our clients!

How many treatments will I need?

At the consultation we will be able to be more specific, but stretchmarks may need around 4 sessions. If you prepay for 3 sessions upfront your 4th session is free. Scarring may need 3 or 4 also, but results happen and can be seen from the very first treatment so sometimes you may need only 2.

Can you treat all skin colours?

Yes we can treat any skin type. Damage to darker skins often leaves the stretchmark or scar darker than the surrounding skin. We have serum specifically for this skin type and condition.
If we have decide to do a camouflage tattoo to blend whiter scars or stretchmarks into surrounding skin, we have inks that will match your skin colour, for an almost seamless result.

How long does it take to heal after a paramedical tattoo treatment?

At your consultation you will be given an aftercare sheet outlining the steps you need to follow to have the best healing experience. There is going to be some downtime and will depend on each clients skin, and the treatment we do, but generally redness from the treatment will last 2 - 7 days.
The skin will also feel 'scratched' and warm afterwards.  We will go over the healing process in detail at your consultationso following the after care instructions is critical.
You will also be given a balm to apply twice a day, every day for 14 days..

What is ISR?

ISR stands for Inkless Stretchmark (or Scar) Revision.  We use no ink in this case, we use a specialised serum that regenerates skin cells to smooth scarring, smooth stretchmarks and reforms scar collegen back into normal collagen. Sometimes we dont need ink at all to camouflage the stretchmark or scar, serum alone does an amazing job at blending the mark into the surrounding skin.
